Urogynecology

Pelvic floor disorders (PFD) impact millions of women each year. Unfortunately, many women endure these challenges in silence, believing them to be an unavoidable part of aging or feeling too embarrassed to seek help. At Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional, we are here to change that. If you’re struggling with a PFD, our expert team, led by a board-certified urogynecologist, offers compassionate care, advanced diagnostic tools, and tailored treatment plans to help you regain control and improve your quality of life. Although PFD conditions may become more common with age, they are not a “normal” part of growing older. With proper diagnosis and treatment, women can enjoy more comfortable, fulfilling lives and gain confidence in their daily activities. Let us help you return to the things you love and live the life you deserve.

We provide a full range of diagnostic services to understand the cause of symptoms, including:

    • Ultrasound—utilizes soundwaves to view the pelvis or anus
    • Biofeedback—assesses strength of pelvic floor muscles
    • Cystoscopy—a video-guided procedure in which a tube and a camera light is inserted into the urethra
    • Urodynamic—tests how well the bladder and urethra hold and release urine
    • Anorectal manometry—procedure that determines the strength of rectal and anal muscles

Our urogynecology care provides a full range of therapies, including minimally invasive surgical procedures such as laparoscopic pelvic floor repair which provide better outcomes and shorter recovery time. Other treatment options include:

    • Relaxation and stress reduction
    • Manual therapy for bone alignment
    • Pelvic floor and core muscle strengthening
    • Sacral neuromodulation
    • Nutrition counseling

We're the only cancer center in Cape May County to offer this innovative technology. It delivers powerful radiation treatments with pinpoint precision.

    • RapidArc™ Radiotherapy Technology This technique increases the accuracy of targeted radiation, which allows for faster treatment times and minimizes the chance of adversely affecting healthy tissue.
    • Gated RapidArc This is a relatively new approach that compensates for tumor motion during treatment. This means we can choose the best form of treatment for each patient.
    • Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) We're one of the few hospitals in Cape May County to have this technology. It delivers precise radiation therapy to tumors anywhere in the body—often in 10-15 minute treatments instead of 45 minutes or longer using other radiation therapy techniques. SBRT is commonly used to treat lung cancer and prostate cancer. At MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Radiation Oncology, a course of SBRT for lung cancer can typically be completed in three treatments and a course of SBRT for prostate cancer can be completed in five treatments.
    • Image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) This is a fully robotic imaging system that allows oncologists to pinpoint tumors within the body before delivering cancer treatment.
    • Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) This computer-driven technology allows for precise radiation delivery, which helps protect surrounding organs and tissues during cancer treatment.
    • Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) This therapy delivers a single, high dose of radiation to a precise area of the brain to treat tumors there.
