In her role as Assistant Vice President, Nursing Operations, Dr. Mapp provides operational oversight for Cooper University Health Care’s Women’s and Children’s Institute, including Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Child Life, Neonatal and Pediatric Critical Care, Cleft Palate Clinic, and the Safe Kids Outreach Program.
Dr. Mapp joined Cooper in 2023 from Jefferson Health New Jersey, where she successfully led the Women’s and Children’s Services department toward designation as a center of distinction in maternity care. She also facilitated the implementation of the Centering Pregnancy Program and a hospital-sponsored community doula program. She is an active member of several professional organizations and serves on the boards of the Organization of Nurse Leaders-NJ and NJ State Nurses Association.
In addition to her dedication and commitment to nursing leadership, Marilyn volunteers her time as a domestic violence first responder in Burlington County and coordinates the annual Thanksgiving Community Brunch and Health Fair at her local church. She is married with two adult children, has a few pet fish, two cats, loves gardening and crafting.
Prior to Jefferson, Dr. Mapp was the Patient Care Director in Obstetrics at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where she championed patient experience and service excellence, and received the Nursing Leadership Award. Clinically, her experience is in pediatric critical care nursing.
Dr. Mapp earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, CA; Master of Arts in Nursing Administration from Columbia University, New York, NY; and Doctor of Nursing Practice - Executive Leadership from George Washington University, Washington, DC. She also holds certifications in nursing leadership and lean methodologies. She has presented both locally and nationally and is a published author. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including member of the Research Committee of the Organization of Nurse Leaders-NJ and NJ State Nurses Association Region 5 VP of Membership.
