Week 1

This week of orientation provides general information that covers organizational and role-specific policies and procedures. Additionally, new team members will acclimate to EPIC, our electronic health record, as well as participate in hands-on training to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality care to our patients.

Week 2

During this week of orientation, nurses will be immersed in the Skills Workshop. This hands-on skill-building portion of the Transition to Practice Program provides the new-to-practice nurses entering the adult care areas with a strong foundation in fundamental nursing care. The new-to-practice nurse will gain an advanced level of comfort and familiarity with both nursing skills and the equipment used in every-day patient care. In addition to this, the new-to-practice nurse will be introduced to the Nurse Residency Program.

Week 3

This week of orientation provides additional education on specific topics of patient care, including wound care, respiratory therapy, and unit-specific workflow and competencies. Nurses will observe on their units of hire in order to gradually acclimate to the unit prior to assuming direct patient care responsibilities.

Epic Training Session

Please park in your assigned location and take the Cooper shuttle to the CCBO/L3 building. The shuttle picks up at the entrance of the Roberts Pavilion building and at the Waterfront Garage. It will drop you at the front door of the CCBO/L3 building.

Class is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. You will receive information on the room number upon arrival. CLN modules need to be completed before arrival, or you will not be able to attend training. Please refer to your email from the EPIC team on how to access and enroll yourself in the modules.

Please ensure that you log in and out of Kronos when you attend the lab session. Time clocks are on the second floor where the training is held.
