For example, when a brain tumor is removed, a neuropathologist classifies it to help guide further treatment decisions. MD Anderson at Cooper's Brain Tumor team includes a board-certified neuropathologist - a level of expertise not available at many brain centers.
• Innovative treatment options: Our team offers advanced radiation treatment using technology called stereotactic radiosurgery that is delivered using a linear accelerator (Linac) and guided by advanced magnetic resonance (MRI) imaging. This technology is faster, more precise, and can be used to treat both brain and spine tumors in difficult-to-treat areas. Our team also offers Laser Interstitial Thermal Treatment and awake craniotomy for - two advanced treatment options not available at any other cancer center in southern New Jersey.
