Physicians at Cooper
Cooper University Health Care is the best place to learn and practice medicine.

Choose Your Path
Whether you want to pursue academic medicine or community practice, Cooper has a path for you. Physicians who choose employment with our Cooper University Physicians group hold faculty appointments at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and mentor Cooper’s residents and fellows. Physicians who prefer a private practice model without teaching responsibilities can join Cooper Care Alliance’s network of primary and specialty care practices. Regardless of your path, all Cooper physicians enjoy the same benefits, educational opportunities, and support services.
Physician-Driven Organization
Physicians have a large presence in leadership at Cooper. In fact, one of Cooper's Co-CEOs is a practicing physician who has been with Cooper since his emergency medicine residency. Our medical staff also hold executive leadership positions in informatics, medical affairs, education, and research. Our highly engaged physicians set strategy, advise IT, and work as dyad partners with our business leaders to meet organizational goals and drive change.
Career Development
Cooper is invested in ensuring the success of our employed physicians. In addition to grand rounds, in-services, fee-free life support education, and tuition assistance, Cooper offers a free Physician Leadership Development Program in partnership with the American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL). This program awards CME hours, core credits toward AAPL’s MBA Program, and credits toward the Certified Physician Executive designation.
Support and Engagement
In addition to an employee assistance program available to all team members, Cooper has additional supports in place for its physicians. Its robust offerings include a Physician Wellness Committee, a Women in Medicine group, a confidential Physician Peer Support Program, and a “Connect the Docs” blog maintained by our Physician Engagement Committee to keep our medical staff informed and engaged.
