Cooper University Health Care Overall Patient Satisfaction Ratings
Star ratings and reviews are ways to give patients and caregivers more context to better understand physician and provider performance so that they can make informed health care decisions.
We publish comments and ratings from our Medical Practice Patient Experience Survey, which was developed by our survey administration vendor, NRC. Every Cooper patient who has an outpatient office visit with one of our doctors or advanced practice providers receives this survey. Because we use actual survey results, you can be assured that the comments you see have been left by verified patients.
We use the “Likelihood of Recommending Provider” question in our Patient Experience Survey to calculate the star rating for each physician and provider. Patients may select any response from 0 (lowest) to 10 (highest) for this survey question, which reads: "How likely would you be to recommend this provider to your family and friends?" Responses are then converted to a 0 to 5 scale, with 5 stars being the best score, and applied consistently to all physicians and providers.
Patient comments received on our survey are reviewed to remove or redact any protected health information (PHI), personal or identifiable information (PII), and inappropriate content. Patient names are never displayed.
Both star ratings and comments are updated quarterly to display the rating results and reviews for the last four quarters.
NRC’s Medical Practice Patient Experience surveys are limited to physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) who see patients in an ambulatory (outpatient office) setting. This is why you won’t see ratings for doctors or APPs who only attend to patients in hospital-based settings, like our inpatient units, emergency department, urgent care centers, and surgery centers. It is also why you won’t see ratings for therapists, social workers, or other allied health care team members.
So that we can ensure that the data we publish are representative, physicians and APPs with fewer than 30 surveys in a 12-month period are also excluded.
On behalf of Cooper University Health Care, NRC distributes the Medical Practice Patient Experience surveys to patients who visit a Cooper doctor or advanced practice provider in an outpatient office. Surveys are distributed by mail or by email to every patient who has provided Cooper with an email address. If you receive a survey, please be sure to fill it out completely so that we can reflect your experience in our ratings.
Cooper University Health Care Practice Groups
A practice group affiliation is a relationship between a clinician, a hospital, and/or a health system. Search results and the clinician profile pages indicate how a clinician is affiliated with Cooper University Health Care.
Cooper University Physicians
These are physicians and advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants) who are employed by Cooper and hold faculty positions at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University or report into one of Cooper’s academic departments and divisions. Faculty physicians teach the next generation of health care professionals and conduct research to help develop new and better ways to prevent and treat disease, in addition to providing exceptional care for our patients and community.
Cooper Care Alliance
These are primary care and specialty care physicians and advanced practice providers who are employed by Cooper but do not have academic faculty appointments at the medical school. As community-based health professionals, they are focused solely on providing exceptional office-based medical care to their patients.
Community
These are physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and others who are not employed by Cooper. Some are teaching affiliates who hold academic appointments and see patients at Cooper facilities while others are in private practice but have privileges to participate in the care of their patients who are admitted at one of Cooper’s hospitals.
Other Practice Groups
Cooper University Health Care has agreements with certain physician groups to provide specific services at our Jersey Cape locations. These include Atlantic Medical Imaging (radiology), Cape Emergency Physicians (emergency and urgent care), Cape Regional Physician Associates (urology), Coastal Clinical Pathology, and Envision Health (anesthesiology).
