Michael Goodman

Dr. Goodman is the President of the Medical Staff of Cooper University Health Care, and Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and the Chief of Pediatrics at the Children's Regional Hospital at Cooper. 

Dr. Goodman received his medical degree from Ross University (1986). He completed a residency in Pediatrics, and served as Chief Resident at Overlook Hospital, Summit, NJ (1986-1989), a Pediatric Neurology residency at State University of NY, Health Science Center at Brooklyn and served as Chief Resident (1989-1992), and a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA (1992-1993). Dr. Goodman is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with Special Qualifications in Child Neurology and the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology. Dr. Goodman also holds a Master of Medical Management from Carnegie-Mellon University (2008). Dr. Goodman has been elected as a Fellow of the: American Academy of Pediatrics, American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, American Epilepsy Society, and the College of Physicians of Philadelphia.

Dr. Goodman is active in many professional societies, and he has served as a board examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Child Neurology, the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology, and the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET).  Dr. Goodman served on the Leadership Committee of the New Jersey Council of Children’s Hospitals (2010-2017, as Chair from 2014-2016) and he is a Past President of the Philadelphia Neurological Society and the Eastern Association of Electroencephalographers. 

Dr. Goodman has a strong commitment to community and academic education.  He has served on the Board of Directors of the March of Dimes-South Jersey Division, the Camden Health and Athletic Association, the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET), the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey, and he is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Center for Family Services, Camden, NJ, since 2011, where he currently serves as the Vice Chair (since 2019). As a pediatric neurologist with clinical interests in children with seizure disorders, fetal and neonatal neurology, and concussion, Dr. Goodman has been recognized as a regional Top Doctor® annually since 2007.

Dr. Goodman lives in Philadelphia, PA.  He is married with 2 sons.
