Skin Cancer Treatment

The Cooper Dermatologic and Cosmetic Surgery team are experts in diagnosing and treating various forms of skin cancer. Treatment options may include scraping and burning, freezing, radiation, and routine excision.

We also specialize in Mohs surgery, a precise technique performed under local anesthesia. During this procedure, visible tumor tissue is removed and examined on-site in our lab while you wait. If cancer cells are still present, another “level” of tissue is removed in just the area in which the cells are present. This process continues until all cancerous tissue is removed, after which the wound is closed.

Our surgeons combine expertise in dermatology and reconstructive surgery to achieve optimal cosmetic and medical outcomes. We treat the following types of skin cancer:
    •    Basal cell carcinoma: the most common and slowest growing form of skin cancer
    •    Squamous cell carcinoma: a more invasive, faster growing cancer that can spread to other parts of the body
    •    Non-melanoma skin cancer: a malignant tumor that grows in the skin cells
    •    Melanoma: a potentially life-threatening skin cancer that requires early detection and treatment
