About Me
Dr. McMahon is a clinical health psychologist serving at Cooper since 2008. She is the former Director (10 years) of the Behavioral Medicine program at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper and is a Ryan White-funded psychologist in the Cooper Comprehensive Health Center (CCHC/EIP) in the Department of Infectious Disease since 2014. She received her B.A. in Psychology, M.A. in Clinical-Counseling Psychology, and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from La Salle University. She completed two post-doctoral fellowships, one in Child and Adolescent psychology and the second in Health Psychology through the Department of Medicine, Cooper University Hospital and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Her areas of focus and interest include chronic disease management (HIV/AIDs, oncology), women's health, LGBTQIA+ care, end of life, and trauma-informed work.
She also serves as Chief Clinical Officer for a behavioral health tech start-up based in Philadelphia and has both conducted research and provided clinical oversight in the BH tech industry since 2017, working with behavioral health organizations, employers, and payers nationally on the use of technology to improve access to and quality of behavioral health care.
Dr. McMahon is Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. She has presented 40+ peer-reviewed projects nationally and chaired multiple panel discussions as subject matter expert on integrated behavioral health, measurement-informed care, and patient-reported outcomes in digital health. She maintains additional faculty appointments at La Salle University and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and has recently completed a second 2-year term on the Advisory Panel for Outreach and Education (APOE) for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid in Washington, DC.
