As always, Dr. Graf clearly remembered the details of our previous interactions and was able to relate them to the most recent x-rays. This time, he noted that there had been no measurable changes in bone positions relative to one another in the past year, which he said was an indication that my bone growth had stabilized the region sufficiently (despite the shearing of all three screws originally placed to do so) that I could use my own judgment as to what activities I chose to engage in. Also as always, he was aware of the dimensions that such parameters have assumed in my life over the past 2 1/2 years. I am extremely grateful that I happened to draw Dr. Graf as my physician the night of my accident, both for his surgical skill and for his wholeness and empathy as a human being. In an earlier period of my life, I wrote abstracts for the Orthopedic Index, and it was a common joke among the writers that orthopedists had to be listed among the most concrete-headed and least imaginative or empathetic creatures in the world. I've been delighted to be disabused of this notion by my interactions with Dr. Graf.

Dr Graf is worth waiting for. When he got to see me he was very thorough and took all the time I needed and helped set me up with an appointment to see a shoulder specialist. I appreciate all he's done for me and value his advice.
