About Me

Mario Caruso, DO, FACC, is a general cardiologist with Cooper University Health Care and member provider of Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care at Cooper and Inspira. He is the founder of the Cooper Heart Institute Sports Cardiology program and the Cooper Heart Institute Hypertropic Cardiomyopathy Program. Dr. Caruso sees patients with a wide array of cardiac conditions and specializes in identifying and treating athletes who have an underlying heart issue and individuals with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Dr. Caruso sees patients in Voorhees, Turnersville, and Glassboro.

Dr. Caruso started his medical career at Rutgers University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. He then went on to Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine where he received his medical degree. During residency at Lankenau Medical Center he served on multiple committees while also becoming an active participant in research. As a Cardiovascular Disease fellow with Lehigh Valley Health Network, he was a member of the sports cardiology clinic. He worked with the sports cardiology team to develop and evolve their approach to return to play evaluation for athletes after SARS-CoV-2 infection. At the culmination of his fellowship, he was voted by the Internal Medicine department as the Teaching Fellow of the Year among a multidisciplinary fellowship pool of over 50 trainees at Lehigh Valley Health Network.

Dr. Caruso is available for consultation in active individuals and athletes with acquired conditions including hypertension, coronary artery disease, arrhythmia, and valvular disease in addition to those with hereditary cardiovascular disease, such as valvular, electrical, artery diseases, and heart muscle disease, including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Dr. Caruso lectures regionally on various sports cardiology and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy topics. He serves as the team cardiologist for Rowan University.

I feel every time I go, he's very, he listens to me and he always, always helps me and understands and cares. He makes me feel great and I trust him. He's a very excellent doctor.

Dr. Caruso is always professional and courteous. Of course I know I am not, butI feel as if I'm his only patient. He's always very informative and attentive. An excellent physician! !

The survey that you send out and ask all these questions, I only met the guy, the doctor, for about 15 minutes, so to get a complete understanding of how he's going to treat me is very hard, but within the 15 minutes, he was fine. I think you should wait until after other appointments to ask all these questions.

Everything, I think everything went very well. He was very nice, very cordial, explained things very easily for me to understand. And my only complaint would be it took a very long time to get in to see him, I'd say two months, and that was being in the hospital. Other than that, I'm completely satisfied.

The office is filled with friendly staff, the techs are wonderful at making you feel relaxed while running tests and Dr. Cavallaro has a great bed side manner, a caring manner and spends a quality amount of time with his patience.
