About Me

I always strive to understand not just the physical issues my patients face, but also how these issues affect their lives and what’s important to them and what their priorities are. By looking at the bigger picture, I can treat each person individually and as a whole person to best meet their needs.

Whether dealing with a serious disease like cancer or a cosmetic concern, my aim is to educate and empower my patients to better understand their health. My communication style is very interactive: I’ll explain a concept, see if my patient understood, and ask them to recap the information back to ensure they’ve understood. I speak to my patients conversationally, using plain language, and my patients often tell me they leave our discussions with a much clearer understanding of their health issues. I also make it a point to listen as much as or more than I talk, encouraging patients to ask questions and express their concerns.

My colleagues and I also provide written materials and videos for pre- and post-op patient education, adopting multiple education approaches because people learn and absorb information differently. This strategy has reduced the number of follow-up calls we receive, as patients have fewer questions, are better informed about their care – such as how to take care of a wound – and leads to better overall outcomes.

I encourage my patients to be actively involved in all aspects of their care. Today’s approach is about shared decision-making, which requires good health literacy, so I emphasize education and understanding patient priorities.

My approach to treatment is generally conservative, and I stay updated on the latest medical advances and literature. Approachable and open to new ideas, I treat each patient as if they were family, only recommending treatments I consider for myself or my own family.

Hi, this is Evelyn O'Donnell. Dr. Naomi Lawrence was very professional. She answered all my questions. She was very compassionate about my needs. And I would definitely go back to Dr. Lawrence and I would recommend her. She really, really had my confidence. I have a lot of confidence in her. And that's most important to me. Also, I think she would be an excellent, excellent surgeon. Thank you so much. Goodbye.
