About Me

Catharine Mayer, MD, is a board-certified sports medicine specialist. Prior to joining Cooper Bone and Joint Institute, she practiced with 3B Orthopaedics. Dr. Mayer completed her sports medicine fellowship at Drexel University College of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed her family medicine residency at Methodist Hospital-Indiana University in Indianapolis, IN.

Dr. Mayer's clinical practice encompasses recreational athletes with sports-related and overuse injuries. In addition, she has a broad clinical practice of adult patients with degenerative joint disease and osteoarthritis. Dr. Mayer also has a strong clinical interest in sports issues unique to female athletes including bone health and stress fractures, as well as osteoporosis screening and prevention. Prior to specializing in sports medicine, Dr. Mayer spent 10 years focusing on women's health advocacy and preventive medicine, giving her unique perspective with female athletes.

Dr. Mayer is sharp, professional, and ENGAGED with my progress. It is always a pleasure to see her and to be involved in plotting the next strategy for treating my condition. And this last visit, she had good news to report from my tests, so that's an added bonus! One more thing: The "receptionist" standing outside Suite 2, directing patients to kiosks or offering to help us check in-she was great! Really sweet and friendly, which is a nice touch in a busy hospital environment. Cooper is a standout that way. :)
