Cooper University Health Care offers a number of surgical procedures to help transgender men, transgender women, and non-binary individuals better align their physical bodies with their gender identity.
Surgeries offered at Cooper include:
- Hysterectomy to remove the uterus and cervix.
- Bilateral salpingectomy to remove the fallopian tubes.
- Bilateral oophorectomy to remove the ovaries.
- Top/chest surgery to masculinize and contour the chest.
- Breast augmentation with implants (out-of-pocket expenses may apply).
- Orchiectomy to remove the testes and optimize hormone management.
- Bottom surgery: We offer vulvoplasty, a procedure that creates the external female genitalia (vulva), including a functional clitoris, without constructing an internal vaginal canal. This is a good option for those who desire the external appearance of a vulva but do not wish to have a vagina for sexual activity. Choosing between vulvoplasty and vaginoplasty is a significant decision, and we're here to support you through the process. We also provide local and national referrals for vaginoplasty, if desired.
- Management of bottom surgery complications: We manage functional, cosmetic, and/or urethral complications of vaginoplasty, vulvoplasty, metoidioplasty, and phalloplasty.
- Penile prosthesis: We offer penile implants for patients who have undergone phalloplasty and can manage complications from prior penile implant.
