JONATHON RENDINA, PhD, MPH
Vice President, Education and Research

Dr. Rendina joined Cooper in 2025 and is responsible for co-leading Cooper’s Education and Research pillar. This work includes supporting Cooper’s accredited Graduate Medical Education and Continuing Medical Education programs, sponsored programs administration, the Cooper Research Institute, and centralized research operations and support services. He works closely with the leadership and faculty of Cooper’s various institutes and centers as well as Cooper Medical School of Rowan University to administratively support system-wide educational and research goals.

Prior to joining Cooper, Dr. Rendina was Associate Research Professor of Epidemiology at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University and jointly served as Senior Director of Research at Whitman-Walker Institute from 2021 to 2025. He was Assistant Professor of Psychology at Hunter College, City University of New York, from 2016 to 2021. He also served on the faculty of the Fordham University HIV and Substance Use Research Ethics Training Institute from 2018 to 2025.

Dr. Rendina holds a PhD in social psychology and an MPH in biostatistics. He is an expert in sociostructural models of stigma and health, with a particular focus on their application to HIV treatment and prevention. He has been awarded more than $30M in NIH-funded research support as principal investigator and has co-authored more than 140 peer-reviewed publications.
