Screening means checking your body for cancer before you have symptoms.
Getting screening tests regularly may find breast, cervical, and other cancers early, when treatment is likely to work best.
MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper offers free cancer screenings to uninsured or underinsured residents of South Jersey who are not able to pay for the screenings. Physician referrals are not needed.

Cancer Screening Recommendations
Breast Cancer Screenings
Mammograms combined with a clinical breast exam are the best way to find breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat.
Who is eligible?
- Women 40 and older
- Women under 40 who have a family history or breast abnormality or concern
Cervical Cancer Screenings
A Pap test combined with a cervical exam, can find abnormal cells which may turn into cancer. Pap tests can also catch cervical cancer early, when the chance of being cured is very high.
Who is eligible?
- Women 21 and over
Colorectal Cancer Screenings
Colorectal cancer almost always develops from abnormal growths (polyps) in the colon or rectum. Screening tests can find polyps, so they can be removed before they turn into cancer. Screening tests also can find colorectal cancer early, when treatment works best.
Who is eligible?
- Men and women 45 and older
- Persons under 45 who have a family history
Prostate Cancer Screenings
Prostate cancer screening can catch cancer early, which gives men more options to consider for treatment.
Who is eligible?
- African-American men, and men with a family history of colon cancer, at age 45
