Hereditary cancer risk counseling is typically recommended for survivors who have been diagnosed with cancer at an unusually young age or who have multiple family members who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Dr. Diane Barton Complementary Medicine Program

Complementary therapies can improve stamina, enhance well-being, and reduce the stress and anxiety that can occur after treatment ends. Therapies offered at MD Anderson Cooper include massage, creative arts, reflexology, music therapy, Qi Gong, yoga, meditation, body movement, and many more. All complementary medicine programs are free for all cancer survivors and are available throughout the year in both our Camden and Voorhees locations.

Nutrition Services

For many patients, the effects of cancer and cancer treatments can make it challenging to eat well. Cancer and cancer treatments, including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, can dramatically affect your body’s ability to tolerate certain foods, use nutrients and digest food properly. Our registered dietitians are specially trained and certified in caring for cancer survivors. They provide counseling and education to help survivors maintain a healthy diet, manage your weight, and cope with digestive health issues that may linger after cancer treatment.

Palliative Care

Palliative care is the comprehensive treatment of the discomfort, symptoms and stress of serious illness. It does not replace your primary treatment, but works together with treatment at any point in your care. Palliative care also addresses psychological, social and spiritual concerns – all to achieve the best quality of life possible.

Patient Education

MD Anderson Cooper health education specialists collaborate with our expert healthcare providers to provide you, your family, and your caregivers with accurate, reliable information to empower you to participate in your cancer care. We invite you to explore our resource library, where you can find an array of written resources about various types of cancer, symptoms and side effect management, genetics and family history, cancer prevention and other topics.
